We have a wide range of roles, from our front facing Stewards and Box Office Assistants to those who work 'behind the scenes' making it all happen in the Programming, Marketing, Housekeeping, Building Services and Show departments to name just a few.

Head of Programming – Maternity Cover

The Royal Albert Hall is one of the world’s most recognisable and best loved entertainment venues with an unrivalled history of world-class artists and performances. Each year it hosts more than 350 performances and events including the BBC Proms, other classical music, rock and pop concerts, opera, musicals, ballet, circus, occasional sport, award ceremonies, conferences and banquets.

Reporting to the Director of Events, the Head of Programming is responsible for selecting, contracting and supporting the diverse range of events that make up the Hall’s performance calendar in the main auditorium and in other spaces around the Hall.    You will be required to nurture and develop relationships with existing and potential event promoters, as well as identify opportunities for new programming and artists to develop new audiences, promote the Hall’s brand and define its artistic programme.

Providing strategic direction for the Hall’s talented programming department, the successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of leading, motivating and managing a team.  Your diligence, gravitas and excellent inter personal skills will make you a natural leader who maintains continuous improvement, has the ability to forge strong relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders in order to
engage and influence all those you work with and play an important role within the Hall’s senior management team.  

Having worked at a senior level in the arts or live entertainment environment, the ideal candidate will have an understanding of programming as well as a broad knowledge of different music genres.
 
This is a full time position on a fixed term contract for a minimum of six months, although as maternity cover there is a possibility of this role being extended.
